A LEGAL CHALLENGE against NSW's rushed gun laws could produce something that could benefit the shooting sports for the next twenty years.
NSW Premier, Chris Minns, and his government will fight hard to avoid losing this legal challenge, but the real question we see is what, if any, legal precedent could be set if these challenges go ahead.
A successful High Court or Supreme Court challenge could establish a legal precedent that could limit what governments can do on firearms legislation.
That’s something no state, territory or federal government would want to see – because currently they do what they want, without anyone looking over their shoulders.
That’s where the right legal challenge could unpick this – which, if we’re right, could put a stop to the sort of attacks on shooters we saw happen in NSW and recently in WA.
The right sort of decision by a brave court could help go a long way to helping protect the future of our sport.

WE TALK ABOUT how the new gun limits in New South Wales' recently passed firearms legislation will severely limit what hunters and target shooters can do.
The new laws will limit hunters to just 4 firearms and target shooters to 10. We explain why these limits are inadequate for legitimate shooters.
SEAN FRAZER walks us through his own hunting journey, that shows how easily you can exceed 4 firearms when going after rabbits, ducks, foxes, deer, and pigs. That’s because these require different calibres and configurations.
That’s before you get to the needs of target shooters and farmers.
Plus, we look at how family involvement can quickly chew up that number - because licensed children must have their firearms registered under their parents' licenses.
FOR TARGET SHOOTERS, the situation is even more restrictive. We discuss how competitive shooters across multiple disciplines—including bench rest, metallic silhouette, and handgun competitions—need way more than 10 firearms to compete properly.
WE ALSO COVER the three active fundraisers supporting legal challenges against these laws, which have raised over $300,000 combined - but need significantly more is needed to fund proper legal challenges.

WE TALK WITH former Senator David Leyonhjelm about the growing calls for a Royal Commission into the Bondi Junction tragedy.
We look at the differences between Royal Commissions and Coronial Inquests and why only a Royal Commission can answer the questions that the public is asking. Importantly, it can dive into our questions of why any changes to our gun laws were needed.
We look at why the federal Labor government is resisting a full Royal Commission, the implications for firearms policy in New South Wales, and concerns about government accountability following the incident.
David draws compelling parallels with the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, raising many unanswered questions about that investigation and its long-term policy consequences.
In fact, if there is no Royal Commission into Bondi to answer the questions, there’s a good chance that the same questions, room for conspiracies and distrust of the government of the day from Port Arthur, will simply repeat themselves.
So will the political anger.
With families of victims now publicly demanding a comprehensive inquiry, this discussion examines what a Royal Commission could reveal about intelligence failures, policy enforcement gaps, and whether current responses adequately address root causes.
This is essential viewing for anyone interested in Australian politics, public safety policy, and government transparency.

IN OUR 100TH EPISODE of Gun News Australia, we go through the final shape of the new gun laws that recently went through the NSW parliament.
NOTE: The legislation has passed but has not yet come into effect. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAND ANY GUNS IN NOW because the government has not put any arrangements in place.
We take you through what the new legislation says and the fallout that will hit the Liberal Party, which supported the bill.
We discuss the terrible impact the new laws will have on shooting in NSW and elsewhere and the economy, including the possible loss of up to a third of NSW dealers. Plus hunters will be limited to four firearms – which is, in many cases, completely unrealistic – and why they need to be part of the political response to this.
You can see the amendments here: https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/bill/files/18853/Passed%20by%20both%20Houses.pdf
These need to be read in conjunction with the existing Firearms Act 1996 which you can see here: https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/whole/html/inforce/current/act-1996-046#sec.8
WE ALSO ENCOURAGE shooters everywhere to donate to the two fundraising campaigns to support anticipated legal cases in the High and Supreme Courts. These fundraisers involve using trust accounts – which means “The Kate Factor” that many shooters got caught up with earlier this year, is not there.
Shooters can be assured the donations will go to the court actions they seek.
Click here for a link to McDonald Law’s fundraiser.
.. and click here for a link to the Terra Australis fundraiser.
WE ALSO LOOK at the blunt message that Federal Labor MP and champion shooter, Dan Repacholi, gave to his own side of politics on the NSW Government’s kneejerk reaction – and why the ban on biathlon guns looks like it was inspired by the 40 year plus old James Bond film, “For your eyes only”.

CORRECTION: The reference to the McDonald website in the video is McDonaldlaw.com.au, not McDonald Legal.
WE LOOK AT the devastating impacts the new gun laws in NSW will have on shooters and the broader firearm industry across the nation – and the TWO LAW FIRMS who are gearing up to fight the new laws.
McDonald Law and Terra Australis Legal are both looking at different types of legal actions to deal with the bypassing of due process and devastating impacts the laws will have – in the High Court and Supreme Court of NSW.
Both are running fundraisers which we URGE shooters to give to. Legal actions come with strict time limits, so we urge shooters to look at these fundraisers straight away. Do not sit on it for a few days because it may be too late!
PLUS we deal with “the Kate Factor” in addressing the damage that Fantinel’s fundraiser has done to the reputation of fundraising for pro-firearm lawsuits. In both cases, the lawyers we talking about, are using their trust accounts -which means your donations are well protected by the legal framework.

WE LOOK AT the ePetition currently before the NSW Upper House asking the NSW Parliament to put a stop to Premier Minns' knee-jerk gun gun laws.
The petition has already gained over 40,000 signatures, so if you’re in NSW, you need to add yours now!
You can sign it by clicking here.
There is also another pro-gun petition in the lower house, which you can see by clicking here.
We also show the reaction from other states and territories, in a move that shows that the other states and territories don’t want to touch them.
We also recap our week of coverage that explains what is proposed, what the cost to the NSW community could be, and why Labor has taken a path to electoral defeat at the next NSW state election.
WE ALSO appeal to shooting organisations to look at the value of joining the National Gun Conference so that our community can respond more swiftly and cohesively to future attacks on our rights.
The anti-gun lobby is getting bigger, more powerful and more agile, and we need to ensure we are never caught by surprise again—and take steps to undo the damage that has been done.
This is not an impossible task – it just requires some recalibration of how organisations – and firearm businesses - want to protect what they do going forward. That’s because having organisations work in isolation simply isn’t working.

WE’VE BEEN BRIEFED on what the new laws for NSW shooters will be and also look at what is in store for NSW gun clubs and ranges.
The changes include limiting the number of guns per individual, limiting gun ownership to Australian citizens (and excluding New Zealanders), new reporting requirements for clubs, the removal of the ability of people who don’t have a licence to ‘try the sport out’ and banning all straight-pull and button release firearms (not just shotguns).
WE LOOK at what Labor MPs, who will know from the calls and emails they’ve received, just how toxic this legislation is – and how they can avoid losing their seats at the 2027 NSW state election.
They need to understand that this is the result of Minns choosing to be briefed by lunatics who have no qualifications or experience with the shooting industry.
THIS IS A MUST WATCH for both NSW shooters and MPs who will be voting on the legislation in the next few days.
Imposing new gun laws is a vote loser. No government has ever won an election by bringing in new gun laws.
It’s something that both sides of politics seems to have forgotten, which is why One Nation is starting to look like a good option for shooters.
It is also a rally call for shooters to get behind Politics Reloaded – because we’re going to be following this right through to the NSW state election.
This includes making sure that we have a repeat of 1988 – when Labor was kicked out - because they made the wrong call on firearms legislation. You see that happen by supporting us - for just $3 a month.

NSW PREMIER CHRIS MINNS is recalling Parliament this week to pass new gun control laws after aligning himself with lunatics.
The proposed laws include a 3-gun ownership limit, the elimination of recreational hunting licenses affecting 700,000 Australians, banning home firearm storage, prohibiting junior shooting programs (ending future Olympic pathways), and removing appeal rights to NCAT.
Minns refuses to consult shooting organisations, instead getting his advice from an anti-shooting group that has no knowledge of how the shooting industry works.
HISTORY warns of severe electoral consequences: in 1988, Barry Unsworth's NSW Labor government suffered a 10% swing purely on gun laws and lost power – on the back of gun control measures.
The Nationals suffered real damage on the 1996 laws, and even WA Labor faced an 18% swing against it on the gun issue earlier this year.
OUR MESSAGE to Labor is that you need to roll Minns as leader – now, or your party will repeat the Unsworth mistake.
The consequences for the shooting sports are severe. They include the end of most shooting activities, range closures and the collapse of shooting-related businesses – for no reason.
That’s why NSW shooters need to make sure Labor loses power at the next state election.
NSW shooters need to act urgently – today! You need to contact your local MP via phone and email. Tell them you’re a constituent and a gun owner – and that that this issue will change your vote.

NSW PREMIER, Chris Minns means has foreshadowed changes to NSW gun laws following the tragic shooting deaths of 15 people, plus one of the perpetrators, at Bondi.
In addition to the glaring question of why he won’t address the cultural melting pot that caused the event, we have a deeper look at what this means for shooters in NSW, and elsewhere.
We remind the premier why calls to tighten gun laws is not only a fallacy but history shows could cost him any chance of winning the March 2027 state election.
This is just a preliminary assessment that is essential viewing for any shooter – no matter what state or territory he or she may be in – needs to see.
We will be recording a more substantive episode later this week where we will dive deeper into the issues this matter raises

THE SHOOTERS, FISHERS & FARMERS PARTY in Tasmania is in turmoil after MP Carlo Di Falco backed a billion-dollar football stadium he explicitly promised to oppose during the election.
His sudden reversal delivered the government the deciding vote and triggered the resignation of senior party figures, tearing the SFFP apart.
Supporters and volunteers who helped elect Di Falco feel betrayed, with shooters left empty-handed while he keeps his taxpayer-funded seat.
This episode highlights a deeper cultural problem that makes running a minor party difficult: politicians and candidates who are prepared to abandon commitments and put their self-interest ahead of voters and party principles.
