IN THIS EPISODE OF GUN NEWS AUSTRALIA, we speak with One Nation candidate for Cook, Peter Campion, about his journey in politics, the problems with left wing agendas infiltrating both sides of politics, and why shooters need to break old habits when it comes to voting.
He’s Barnaby Joyce’s father-in-law, a pistol shooter, secretary of his club – and believes we need something similar to the Second Amendment.
Join us as we talk about the choices shooters up north have, and some of the darker truths including how the major parties work, election fraud in remote communities and his endeavour to find the current local member, who is nowhere to be seen.
You can support Peter’s campaign at the One Nation website by clicking here.

IN THIS EPISODE OF GUN NEWS AUSTRALIA, we speak with the Liberal candidate for the Western Australian seat of Albany in the lead up to the WA state election next March, Tom Brough.
Tom is a passionate member of the SSAA who shares the same view as Liberal Party MP, Dr Steve Thomas, that their party needs to change its tune on firearms, if it is to change its fortunes at the upcoming state election.
Tom talks about the dangers of coming up with ‘placebo policy’ that has no basis that only exists to make the public ‘feel good’. He talks about the need to use the political process to ‘shift the dial’ in how our major parties deal with the firearms issue.
This follows the interview we had with Dr Thomas, which you can listen to at: https://tinyurl.com/steve-thomas-gna
… AND OUR PARTING MESSAGE TO THE LIBERAL PARTY:
Look at what your candidates are saying. Look at what the many, many shooters in WA are saying. Look at the maps published by the police which show the number of votes in Perth to be had. Look at the traction the Nationals are gaining with their forums.
Then sit down with Nick Goiran, Steve Thomas and Tom Brough – to tackle this issue head on. Then you’ll realise there is a significant opportunity that exists for the Liberals to pick up support that it has previously overlooked.

WE chat with Western Australian Liberal Party MP, STEVE THOMAS, about why he crossed the floor from his party to vote against the new gun laws in Western Australia.
He also talks about the broader SOCIALIST AGENDA being run by WA LABOR and why a true conservative would not have supported these types of laws.
Steve also has a message for his party colleagues, and for shooters who want to know what they can and should do to fix the problem that they now have.
COMING UP: We’ve got another interview coming up from within the LIBERAL PARTY in the next few days. This time it's with a candidate contesting next year’s WA State Election, who shares Steve’s views. This is something that the Liberal Party HQ might want to mull over - along with watching what the Nationals WA are doing in this space - and the support they are gaining on the issue.

THE RECENT National Gun Conference was a real success. It turned out better than hoped.
The metrics show how well it was received and why we’re already starting to gear up for the next one. This is an opportunity for EVERY shooting and organisation to jump on board, as we look at what we need to do to implement the things that came out of the first conference.
To see the replay of the 2024 National Gun Conference, just go to tinyurl.com/2024ngc
PLUS we look at why shooters should not leave voting to the last minute. With the NT election coming up this Saturday – and the ACT and Queensland elections coming up in October, we explain why shooters need to slow down and think before casting their vote.
Don’t waste this opportunity to say “NO” to bad gun policies. Don’t leave voting to the last minute.
Vote early or by post, and take your time to ask who the best candidates for you to be able to keep hunting, target shooting, run your farm or keep your gun collection really are!
WE ALSO read an URGENT RECALL that affects every shooter that they need to hear.

SHOOTERS IN THE NT go to the polls next Saturday, August 24th, to decide who they want to run the territory.
In this episode, we speak with the Deputy Leader of the Country Liberal Party, Gerard Maley, about the party’s recently released pro-gun policy. The policy aims to support hunting in the territory – and fix some glaring problems with the NT’s Firearms Act that Labor has refused to fix.
Don’t waste your vote! Make sure you look carefully at who your voting for – and take the opportunity to put your sport first! If you put your vote elsewhere, you could be risking it’s future.
You can see the CLP’s pro-shooting policy by clicking here.

DAVID BROWN from Shooters Union Australia joins us to discuss the upcoming National Gun Conference. The conference is the first of its type, with the aim being to grow it in size and scope to address the issues facing Australian shooters.
It’s the start of one of the most forums on the gun debate, on OUR side of the fence.
Get your ticket in our Zoom audience here. Or watch it live on Facebook or YouTube.
A full list of speakers will be made available closer to the event.
PLUS, we discuss a proposal to introduce a 50% rebate for ammo sales for Australia’s 900,000 licensed shooters.
The rebate will be a massive boost for the shooting sports, as well helping our hip pockets. It’s just an idea, but one that we reckon is worth pushing, in the lead up to the next federal election.
Join us in this extensive, informative and enjoyable episode!

THE ANIMAL JUSTICE PARTY’S Georgie Purcell has shacked up with Federal Labor Senator, Josh Burns.
What hasn’t been revealed – until now – is that her new beau, Burns, is the co-chair of an anti-gun group in Canberra.
It’s a move that also gives the tattooed anti-duck campaigner the opportunity to land another job in politics if she doesn’t get re-elected at the 2026 Victorian State Election.
WE ALSO cover the imposition of a new tax on firearms and ammunition in California which we covered back in September. The tax is now law, in a move that people like Burns could push for – as goods and services taxes are a federal responsibility.
PLUS, we question whether it is in our interests for shooting organisations to be part of consultation committees where they are required to enter into confidentiality agreements. That’s because it means governments can silence shooting organisations – by offering cosy meetings with party pies, sandwiches and orange juice.
We’ve been losing the war against bad laws and policies for decades – and it’s time our shooting organisations pulled out of those committees and spoke up against what is happening to us all.

HUGH JONES is Labor’s MP in the southeastern Perth electorate of Darling Range. He is notorious for hiding from shooters in his electorate when they want to discuss gun laws with him. That’s why we’ve dubbed him ‘Houdini Hugh’.
There are 5 or 6 gun clubs in his electorate – which he has actively ignored and refused to meet. He stood by as Police Minister, Paul Papalia, encouraged shooters to “get another hobby”.
In this episode, we meet Morgan Byas, who is the Nationals candidate for Darling Range who will be looking at knocking off Hugh at the 2025 WA State Election.
We discuss the electorate, what good government look like and what the current approach being taken by the WA government’s might mean for other groups such as four-wheel drivers, fishers and farmers.
MORGAN is a currently serving councillor who knows his community well – and knows what makes the local community tick.
His nomination heralds the opportunity that shooters in WA have to make sure their votes count – as the Liberal and National Party give voters the ability to vote Labor out.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA’s new gun laws will come into effect after passing through both houses of WA Parliament. Unbelievably, the WA Liberals voted WITH the Cook Government in both houses.
It was a dumb political move by the Liberals who have turned their backs on the state’s 90,000 shooters who were looking for an effective opposition to challenge the government’s approach. The good news is that the National Party stood up for shooters, which is something we’re keen to point out as next March’s WA state election approaches.
However the weakness of the Liberal Party is a cancer that we could see repeated in other states & territories, which is why this should matter to every shooter in every state & territory.
PLUS, we cover the upcoming National Gun Conference on 4th August. The big news is that the event will be streamed LIVE on Facebook and Youtube. Get your invitation by signing up to our email list where we’ll send you links so you don’t miss out. The link to sign up appears below.

WHEN TWO WOMEN died at the hands of Mark Bombara, the WA Government was quick to politicise the tragedy as a gun issue to further their push to change the state's gun laws.
However everything turned on its head when the gunman’s daughter, Ariel Bombara, revealed she had tried to warn police three times about what could happen. In fact, she described her father as a ‘real and imminent threat’ to public safety.
We look at what happened and dive into the politics around this event.
The police said they were powerless. We show they weren’t. Labor tried to use this to sell their message, but no-one’s buying it.
This matter is stark reminder why every shooter needs to be careful who the vote for at elections – because they could be voting for someone who wants to take their shooting sport away from them.
DON'T LET THEM DO IT! We'll tell you what you can do.

Get the latest political news affecting shooters
Shooters know they have a political problem. From buybacks to knee-jerk reactions, we cop the lot. Bad policy, bad laws and bad media.
However shooting is arguably the best sport around. It supports wide age groups, offers pathways to international competition, friendships and is a major contributor to our economy.
That's why we need to fight back. We'll explain what you need to know - and do, as we can all help make the difference we need.
We'll cover the stories that matter and interview the people who can help us get to where we need to be.
